Overview

The Volvo EX60 is a fully electric five-seat mid-size SUV and the longest-range electric car Volvo has built. It is the first car on Volvo’s SPA3 electric architecture and the first Volvo to combine cell-to-body battery construction, an 800-volt electrical system and mega-casting. Volvo is distributed in New Zealand by NordEast Vehicle Distributors, part of the Giltrap Group, and the EX60 is on sale here from November 2026, with first customer deliveries that month.

“EX60 matches the range of a petrol car, charges as fast as your average fuel stop and has price parity with the XC60 plug-in-hybrid.”

Daile Stephens, Volvo Cars New Zealand brand manager (via Driven)

Two versions are offered, both in Ultra specification. The Ultra P6 has a single motor driving the rear wheels, with 275kW and 480Nm, an 83kWh battery, 611km of WLTP range and 0–100km/h in 5.9 seconds, from $116,990. That is the same price as the XC60 plug-in hybrid in Ultra trim. The Ultra P10 adds a second motor for all-wheel drive, with 375kW and 710Nm, a 95kWh battery, 660km of range and 0–100km/h in 4.6 seconds, from $125,990.

Both versions charge from 10 to 80 per cent in 16 minutes on a DC fast charger, and Volvo says the EX60 can add up to 315km of range in 10 minutes. A full charge on a 3-phase 16A AC supply takes 8 hours for the P6 and 9 hours for the P10. Braked towing capacity is 2,000kg for the P6 and 2,400kg for the P10.

The EX60 is 4,803mm long, 1,908mm wide and 1,635mm high, on a 2,970mm wheelbase. The boot holds 523 litres, or 1,647 litres with the rear seats folded, and there is a 58-litre front boot. Ultra equipment includes 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio with Dolby Atmos, an electrochromic roof, ventilated front seats and a 360° camera with 3D view. Google built-in with the Gemini assistant is included through a four-year digital services package, and the HuginCore computer handles over-the-air updates.

A P12 Performance version with a 117kWh battery, 500kW and a claimed 810km WLTP range is due in New Zealand in the second half of 2027. Volvo Cars New Zealand also lists an EX60 Cross Country, with air suspension as standard, for delivery from mid-2027. New Volvos come with a five-year or 150,000km warranty and an eight-year or 160,000km battery warranty. ANCAP has not rated the EX60.
