About the Kia EV6
The Kia EV6 was the first vehicle built on Kia's Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), developed exclusively for electric vehicles. The facelifted EV6 is sold in New Zealand in three trims, all with an 84.0kWh lithium-ion battery: Light RWD from $83,070, Earth AWD at $103,070 and GT-Line AWD at $115,070, all plus on-road costs.
The Light model's single rear motor produces 168kW and 350Nm, giving up to 582km of WLTP range and a 7.7-second 0-100km/h time. Earth and GT-Line use dual motors with 239kW and 605Nm, cutting the sprint to 5.3 seconds, with WLTP range of 546km and 522km respectively.
Charging is a strong point. With 800V ultra-fast charging the battery goes from 10 to 80% in an estimated 18 minutes at the 240kW maximum DC rate, and Kia says a 100km top-up takes less than five minutes. On a 50kW DC charger 10-80% takes an estimated 81 minutes, while an 11kW AC wallbox charges 10-100% in an estimated 7 hours 35 minutes through the 10.5kW on-board charger.
A 2.9m wheelbase gives 1,078mm of front and 990mm of rear legroom, and boot space is 520L (480L in the GT-Line), or 1,290L with the rear seats folded (1,250L GT-Line). Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) supplies 3.6kW of AC power from an interior 3-pin socket on every trim, and the GT-Line also comes with an exterior V2L adaptor.
ANCAP awarded the EV6 five stars in 2022 (the rating applies to all variants except the GT and expires in December 2028), and Rightcar gives the 2025-26 EV6 a 5-star safety rating. Kia New Zealand's specification sheet lists the current range's ANCAP rating as "Pending Final Confirmation". New EV6s come with Kia's 7-year / 150,000km warranty programme, an 8-year / 160,000km high-voltage battery warranty and five years of free Kia Roadside Assist.
