About the Kia EV9
The Kia EV9 is Kia New Zealand's flagship electric SUV, a full-size three-row model built on the same 800V E-GMP platform that underpins the EV6. It is offered locally in Light, Earth and GT-Line trims, priced from $110,790 plus on-road costs through to $139,790 plus on-road costs for the GT-Line.
The entry Light model pairs a 76.1kWh battery with a single rear motor producing 160kW and 350Nm, good for 443km of WLTP range and a 8.2-second 0-100km/h time. Earth and GT-Line step up to the 99.8kWh long-range pack and dual-motor all-wheel drive with 282.6kW and 700Nm, cutting the sprint to 6.0 seconds while extending WLTP range to 492km and 505km respectively.
Charging is a strong point. The multi-charging system works on both 400V and 800V DC infrastructure, and the 10.5kW AC on-board charger replenishes the pack in roughly 7 to 9.5 hours from a 11kW AC wallbox. On a 50kW DC charger a 10-80% top-up takes approximately 63-83 minutes depending on the battery fitted, with much shorter times on high-power chargers.
Vehicle-to-Load capability supplies up to 3.6kW at 220V, enough to run power tools, camping equipment or appliances directly from the vehicle. Every EV9 sold in New Zealand is covered by Kia's 7-year / 150,000km vehicle warranty, with the high-voltage drive battery covered for 8 years.
The EV9 was named 2024 World Car of the Year, and full specifications, colours and current pricing are published on the official Kia New Zealand EV9 page.
