The short version

Overview
Kia New Zealand describes the EV4 as Kia's first electric sedan: a fastback with seating for five, which ANCAP notes was introduced in New Zealand in September 2025. Two trims are sold, both front-wheel drive with a single 150kW / 283Nm motor and the same 81.4kWh (gross) NCM battery: the Light LR from $63,990 and the GT-Line at $75,990, both plus on-road costs.
“A classic sporting silhouette, reimagined with tomorrow's technology.”
Range is the headline. The Light LR on 17-inch wheels is rated at up to 633km WLTP and the GT-Line on 19-inch wheels at 612km, with combined consumption of 14.4 and 14.9 kWh/100km. Kia quotes 0–100km/h in 7.7 seconds for the Light LR and 7.8 seconds for the GT-Line, and a 170km/h top speed.
The boot holds 490L with what Kia describes as a wide 1.1m opening, while braked towing capacity is 1,000kg (750kg unbraked). Both trims get vehicle-to-load, with an interior plug at the base of the rear seat and exterior V2L through an adapter, which Kia says can run devices such as laptops, camping equipment or even a coffee machine.
Inside, a 12.3-inch driver display and 12.3-inch navigation screen sit side by side across the dashboard, with a separate 5-inch climate display. Kia Connect brings over-the-air updates. The GT-Line adds the comfort items: heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a head-up display, Harman/Kardon audio, a heat pump and a power tailgate.
The EV4 is covered by Kia's 7-year / 150,000km warranty programme and an 8-year / 160,000km high-voltage battery warranty, with five years of Kia Roadside Assist.
Range and charging
Charging times are Kia New Zealand figures and apply to both trims. WLTP range is 633km for the Light LR and 612km for the GT-Line, with combined energy consumption of 14.4 and 14.9 kWh/100km respectively.
