About the BYD Atto 2
The BYD Atto 2 brings compact-SUV practicality to BYD's expanding New Zealand lineup, positioned between the Atto 1 city car and the larger Atto 3. Known as the Yuan Up in its Chinese home market, the Atto 2 has been specifically configured for New Zealand with a larger 51kWh battery pack, delivering up to 345km of WLTP range.
Featuring BYD's distinctive dragon face design language penned by Global Design Director Wolfgang Egger, the Atto 2 combines short overhangs and powerful body curves to create a sporty yet robust exterior. The compact dimensions make it perfect for urban environments while the SUV stance provides confidence and practicality for families.
Inside, the Atto 2 elevates the compact SUV experience with vegan-leather seats and a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen display that can switch between landscape and portrait modes. Built on BYD's e-Platform 3.0 architecture, it features the company's renowned Blade Battery technology, delivering enhanced safety and thermal management.
With 290Nm of torque and a 7.9-second 0-100km/h time, the Atto 2 offers spirited performance for a compact electric SUV. The Dynamic trim at $39,990 plus on-road costs provides excellent value, while the Premium variant at $45,990 adds enhanced features and connectivity.
"With the Atto 2 we're offering a new level of compact-SUV comfort and connectivity for our drivers," says BYD New Zealand general manager Warren Willmot. The model is available for pre-order now through Ateco Automotive, with deliveries expected to begin in January 2026. Lease options start from $114 per week through Carbn Group.
